ABOUT THE CHEF:

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN COSTA RICA, CENTRAL AMERICA TO SECOND GENERATION JAMAICAN PARENTS AND SURRONDED BY MY JAMAICAN GRAND PARENTS.

 

I LATER MOVED TO NEW YORK, ARMED WITH MY CARIBBEAN “FLAVA” 

I WAS EXPOSED TO A GLOBAL CULTURAL PEPPER POT – ALL TWO OF THESE EXPERIENCES  WERE INSTRUMENTAL  IN  THE  BEGINNING OF MY CULINARY JOURNEY.

 

OVER TIME, AND THROUGH ASSOCIATION WITH FRIENDS FROM THE NEW ORLEANS REGION, COOKING AND SHARING RECIPES, OPENED UP A WINDOW THAT EXPOSED THE MANY  SIMILARITIES  BETWEEN  CARIBBEAN AND CREOLE COOKING.

 

SO AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION AND RESEARCH  I DECIDED TO MERGE BOTH CUISINES TOGETHER  GIVING  BIRTH TO THE CARIBBEAN / CREOLE CONCEPT.

 

I HAVE LIVED IN LOS ANGELES FOR MANY YEARS, WORKED  IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY FOR 26 YEARS AS A CATERER, RESTAURATEU, PERSONAL CHEF AND OUTDOOR FOOD VENDOR (VARIOUS LOCAL FARMERS MARKETS).

 

WORKING MY FOOD BOOTH AT THE HOLLYWOOD FARMERS  MARKET  FOR 18 YEARS, I WAS ALSO PRIVILEGE TO PROVIDE  SET CATERING FOR A NUMBER OF  INDEPENDENT  MOVIES AND COMMERCIALS, THIS LASTED  FOR OVER 13 YEARS, I AM CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR THIS LINE OF WORK -  SEE LISTING IN THE LA411 DIRECTORY. 

 

I WROTE MY FIRST COOKBOOK “COOKING WITH FLAVA”  WHICH WILL BE RELEASED IN 2012
